Another photo that doesn't appear in my book HAUNTED BY HISTORY VOL. 1: SEPARATING THE FACTS AND LEGENDS OF EIGHT HISTORIC HOTELS AND INNS IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA.

It was shot on the spiral staircase of the Mission Inn's "most haunted" suite. As the story goes, in the early 1990s, a groom was carrying his bride up the stairs to the bedroom when an invisible pair of hands pushed them. This caused the newlyweds to check out immediately. Because this story has been told and retold a number of times, the suite is often mischaracterized as the Inn's honeymoon suite. It isn't. Although I haven't seen blueprints pre-WWII, I half suspect that this suite may have once been part of Alice "Aunt Alice" Richardson's living quarters and that it might have been separated into its own suite during the Mission Inn's major renovation of the 1980s. I suspect this only because the square footage is strangely laid out with odd angles that don't aesthetically work very well. It also is a two story suite that is located adjacent to the two story Aunt Alice Suite (which also has an odd layout in its current form). Alice Richardson was Mission Inn owner Frank Miller’s sister as well as the Inn’s longtime manager. She also died in her quarters in the 1930s. I will leave my theory as to whether this suite was part of her original living quarters to the next researcher to hunt down. If no one does this, I may research it myself later. But I do believe that there is a connection between the paranormal activity in the Aunt Alice Suite and this one.
