Description
Bathing Beauty Thelma Hill was one of Mack Sennett's more talented comedy heroines in the 1950s. She epitomized the high energy, vivacious comedic flapper. She vivacious in real life, too. A little too much. In the 1930s, as her career faltered, she became a raging alcoholic. She was also dieting herself to death hoping for a comeback that never came. In 1938, she succumbed at the age of 31 in a Culver City sanitarium. Newspapers barely reported it. One death notice said that she died from a stomach ailment. Wikipedia states that she died from a brain hemorrhage, although the latter claim is not footnoted. Let's just say that she died from complications due to alcoholism.
