Artist's Description

This Early 1900s Los Angeles at Night image is exactly what you need in your home or office.

Beautifully restored and enlarged digital image depicting an early 1900s nighttime street scene along Spring Street in Los Angeles.

The colors and Victorian buildings convey a beautiful kind of gloom that hints at mystery and adventure.

In fact, it almost has a kind of steampunk fantasy look to it!

The mug comes in a couple of different color variations.

In 1900, the City of Angels had a population of 102,479. Although it ranked as the 36th largest city in the United States at that time, it was also the nation's fastest-growing city. By 1910, the city had more than doubled its population, clocking it at 319,198 residents. It had also risen to become the 17th largest U.S. city.

Motion picture folk from the East began arriving in the city around 1909-1910 and by 1915, the city became the motion picture capital of the West Coast.

Exciting times! Rom...

About Sad Hill - Bizarre Los Angeles Archive

Sad Hill - Bizarre Los Angeles Archive

My name is Craig Owens, a photographer/blogger for the popular Facebook Page "Bizarre Los Angeles" and the author of the book, "Haunted by History Vol. 1," separating the facts and legends of eight historic, haunted hotels in Southern California. I have always been in love with Old Hollywood. I love it for its glamour, its style, its mythology and its decadence, which always seems to be bubbling just below its surface. I'm a firm believer that its history should not be forgotten even if its architecture and carbon footprints are slowly being replaced.
