Artist's Description

On December 14, 1936, highwire walker Bunny Dryden performed numerous stunts in downtown Los Angeles. During one of his performances, he walked blind folded as well as carried his wife on his shoulders. Dryden was billed as the "World's Champion High Wire Walker at 100 Feet" across America and he also performed under the name "the Great Lafayette" when in Europe. Daredevils like Dryden often did not live long, and on September 19, 1937, he slipped and fell 45 feet to his death during a stunt at the Western Washington Fair in Puyallup, Washington.

About Sad Hill - Bizarre Los Angeles Archive

Sad Hill - Bizarre Los Angeles Archive

My name is Craig Owens, a photographer/blogger for the popular Facebook Page "Bizarre Los Angeles" and the author of the book, "Haunted by History Vol. 1," separating the facts and legends of eight historic, haunted hotels in Southern California. I have always been in love with Old Hollywood. I love it for its glamour, its style, its mythology and its decadence, which always seems to be bubbling just below its surface. I'm a firm believer that its history should not be forgotten even if its architecture and carbon footprints are slowly being replaced.
